UCFC suffers another loss in Champions League

UNITED City FC (UCFC) suffered another defeat in its campaign in the 2022 AFC Champions League.

UCFC lost to Australian club Melbourne City FC, 3-0 on Monday, April 18, 2022, in Pathum Thani, Thailand.

Aussie striker Stefan Colakovski scored the opening goal in the 34th minute with a shot to the bottom corner from point blank range.

Marco Tillio, another young Australian forward, had a strong second half and scored a brace to finish off the Filipino side.

Tillio scored an eight-yard goal in the 59th minute from a pass by Japanese midfielder Tsubasa Endoh. He hit the back of the net again in the 75th minute as he connected with a pass by 18-year-old striker Raphael Rodrigues.

On the other hand, home team BG Pathum United defeated Jeonnam Dragons, 2-0, in the other Group G match.

BG Pathum had a strong second half and scored two goals, one from Pathompol Charoenrattanapirom in the 51st minute and the other from Jakkapan Praisuwan in the 71st minute.

Melbourne City moved up to the top spot with four points, followed by BG Pathum at second place also with four points but behind on goal difference. Jeonnam dropped to third with three points, while UCFC remained at the bottom with no points.

UCFC takes on BG Pathum next on Thursday, April 21, while Melbourne City faces Jeonnam.
