THE University of Bohol (UB) nabbed a 97-83 win over the Mater Dei College (MDC) in the Seniors division of the Bohol Schools Athletic Association (BSAA) Season 9 at the UB gym in Tagbilaran City on Wednesday night, Oct. 16, 2019.
UB was clinging to a scant two-point lead, 69-67, at the end of the third period but managed to pull away in the fourth, thanks to a 28-16 blast during that stretch that allowed them to get the win and even their win-loss record up at 3-3.
James Bolos flirted with a triple-double as he had 18 points, 10 assists and six rebounds to go with four steals and a block.
Joseph Morata paced UB in scoring with 28 points while Renel Mila added 19 of his own. Jahidi Rios also played well as he too scored in double-figures with 16 markers.
The loss dropped MDC to 2-3 for the season.
Meanwhile, in the Juniors division, the Cristal e-College (CeC) improved to 4-5 with a 103-60 rout of the Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School (DCPNHS). CeC got off to a hot start and led, 35-14, after the opening 10 minutes of action and pushed their lead to 40 points at halftime, 66-26. The second half showed more of the same dominant play from CeC as they eventually cruised to the easy win.
Kim Abaa led the way for CeC with a humongous double-double performance of 23 points and 20 rebounds laced with two assists, three steals and four blocks.
DCPNHS fell to 1-7 for the season. JNP
