Valenzuela City to conduct tryout in Cebu for MPBL team on February 23

Jonas Panerio

PLAYERS that are aspiring for a shot at playing in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) are going to get the precious opportunity as the Val City — Carga Backload Solution will stage a tryout at the Cebu City Sports Institute in Barangay Sawang Calero on Sunday, February 23, 2020, at 2 p.m.

Val City is scouring the country for new players to shore up their team after missing the MPBL playoffs this season. Presiding over the tryout will be Val City’s lone all star player, Dean Paulo Hubalde.

The league has become a prime breeding ground for many players outside of Manila to gain recognition and, hopefully, a shot at playing in the big league, the PBA.

Several Cebuanos have already played for Valenzuela in the past seasons of the MPBL. These are former pro and reigning PBA D-League Most Valuable Player Eloy Poligrates and former University of San Jose-Recoletos guard Kido Cabrera.
