Wildcats to face Green Lancers in Cesafi

AFTER getting clipped by the University of San Carlos Warriors last time out, the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Wildcats will try for their first win of the season when they face off against the reigning three-time Cesafi champions University of the Visayas Green Lancers at the Cebu Coliseum on Thursday, September 19, 2019 .

Playing without a foreign player, CIT-U played with a heart larger than their collective heft and height as they went toe-to-toe with the Warriors before faltering in the endgame to fall to 0-2 this season.

Veteran forward Jesse Aloro Jr., who finished the game against USC with 23 points and 13 rebounds, said they just have to lean on one another to get past this trying stretch.

“We just have to rely on one another. All of us here are talented or else, we wouldn’t be here. What we do lack is maturity in the games, so we really have to learn from our past two games,” said Aloro.

“We don’t have an import to lean on. We only have one another. So we have to defend and hustle once we are inside the court. Just play as hard as we possibly can until the final buzzer,” Aloro added.

In the meanwhile, the Green Lancers have some tinkering to do in the wake of their 74-82 loss to the University of Cebu Webmasters last Sunday.

“We need to make adjustments. As coach Gary (Cortes) said, we need to play as a team. Trust one another be aggressive on defense,” said veteran forward Jancork Cabahug. (SunStar Cebu)
