HOMEGROWN band, THEA (Thi-ya), recently signed a contract under MCA Music (Universal Music Philippines), one of the leading music companies in the Philippines.

THEA’s lead vocalist and ukulele player Thea Pitogo said in an interview with Sun.Star Davao that exciting things are expected from the band following the contract signing.

“It was overwhelming and worth the wait,” she said.

In a Facebook post, the band thanked their management Studio 1 Artists Management & Events Corp for making the contract possible.

The Davao-based band is also composed of keyboardist Darryl Tingzon, guitarist and 2nd vocals Ronald Tubio, bassist Paul Jaso and drummer Jasper Pala.

Last year, the band was the lone Philippine representative to the Intentional Songwriting Competition (ISC) Finals - Adult Album Alternative Category. The tilt is an opportunity for musicians, artists and song writers to be heard in the global scene.

Their entry song was entitled Home.

The same song was also used by local videography group, Aninag Productions, for a Davao City-led video competition (Destination Davao) which won second place last year.

The band, then named Thea Pitogo, released its first Extended Plays (EP) last July 5, 2014, entitled Love More. Their second EP, The Wise and the Wiser was launched on May 23, 2015.

One of their hit singles is Stole My Heart which made the band more visible in the local and national music scene.
