Better and greener Sarbay Festival 2019

Mark A. Perandos

THE night in one of the biggest beach festivals in the country called Sarangani Bay (SarBay) Festival 2019 was indeed a night worth remembering.

Through the efforts of San Miguel Brewery (SMB) Inc., a company that supports entertainment and one of the first companies that continues to support Sarbay Fest since its first year, the usual first night of the event had become extremely fun and wild. They brought in Rocksteddy led by vocalist and “It’s Showtime” host, Teddy Corpuz.

More than a thousand beachgoers were singing along to the famous original Rocksteddy songs such as Superhero, U.T.I, Forever, and Lagi Mo Nalang Akong Dinededma. Aside from Rocksteddy’s songs, the audience was also entertained by Teddy’s humor and joke that kept the night alive. No room for boredom.

Before Rocksteddy was unveiled, beachgoers were introduced to local bands from various cities in Mindanao such as Davao and General Santos.

Aside from the beverage purchased at any store within the festival venue, SMB also distributed freebies during the concert like t-shirts, caps, and limited edition of San Miguel arm sleeves.

The company helped in the festival’s advocacy campaign called #ILoveCleanSarBay. It is an initiative of the local government unit to keep the beach clean all throughout the celebration.

The company set up huge trash bins at the party venue to handle the wastes of partygoers. In order to encourage responsible environmental care habits, SMB gave out eco bags to some individuals who will throw out their garbage in the right place.

The festival started from Thursday to Saturday, May 30 to June 1, 2019.
