Delivering free food to frontliners

WE OFTEN see these pink riders around the city bringing the food we love, but on Monday, March 23, 2020, foodpanda riders were off to a special delivery.

Around 30 foodpanda volunteer-riders joined forces to deliver free food to some Dabawenyo frontliners--medical health workers, traffic enforcers, and security forces, among others--who are leading the fight against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

“We initiated this activity to reach out to our frontliners and offer a little help by giving free food sponsored by some of our generous merchants,” foodpanda said in a statement.

The food delivery service company added that they see the need to help those working courageously in these trying times.

“We saw the need, that’s why we decided to contribute in a very simple way,” it said.

Foodpanda dropped their food items at the Southern Philippines Medical Center, one of the Covid-19 treatment facilities in Davao Region, city’s key checkpoint areas, and police stations.

This activity was also made possible by their partner merchants: Lhealthyshop, D Counter, Honestea, KKK, Ate beng’s foodhub, Citra Mina, Wingboss, Oleng’s, Kate’s Specialty, AUM Veggieballs, Gotcha, and Choki Milktea.

Amid the community quarantine implementation in the city, foodpanda continues to deliver food to Dabawenyos staying in their houses as the danger of the highly-infectious disease remains present.
