Happy Chinese New Year at Waterfront

Reuel John F. Lumawag

IT WAS a tummy filling and satisfying welcome to the year of the Earth Pig during the celebration of the Chinese New Year at Cafe Uno, Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao.

Curating the feast for the celebration of the Lunar Year is chef Anthony “Chef Nino” Joseph III, who was appointed as the hotel's new property executive chef.

Chef Nino and the hotel's culinary team prepared a sumptuous six-station lunch buffet featuring Oriental cuisine.

Among the dishes prepared included the Lechon Macau, Peking Duck, Pork Charsiu, Salt and Pepper Squid, Stir Fry Beef and Bok Choy in Oyster Sauce, and Kung Pao Chicken. Another highlight is the dimsum station where you can get delicious Japanese Siomai, Crab Siomai, Pork and Shrimp Siomai, and Siopao.

Tang Yuan, assorted hopia, Mooncakes, Tikoy, and Buchi were also made available for the guests and diners to enjoy.

Sometime during lunch, a traditional lion dance was also performed to usher in good luck and prosperity for the Year of the Earth Pig.
