Salvador: Craving for Singapore food, lah?

Jinggoy I. Salvador

LET’S talk about art and appetite and have Waterfront Insular Hotel as our host.

August was not about to end for the hotel without presenting their visual treat for its guests. Art has been integrated in the hotel’s veins and the lobby has become a venue for artists to showcase their creativity. Recently, artists from Angono, Rizal were the guest exhibitors.

“Angono is hailed the Arts Capital of the Philippines. It’s home to two National Artists – Carlos “Botong” Francisco for Visual Arts and Maestro Lucio D. San Pedro for Music—and families of generations of artists that record Philippine history through their work,” said GM Bryan Lasalas.

The exhibit only ran for three days, but one artist will showcase his Singaporean creativity for the entire month of September— Waterfront Hotels and Casinos’ very own Singaporean Chef, Alan Chan.

In the food promotion, “Crazy Rich Flavors of Asian Cuisine” will add a Singaporean flair to the regular Café Uno spread. The promotion highlights the signature dishes of Laksa, Chili Crab and Prawns on Mantao, Hainanese Chicken and Curry, Shredded Beef Rendang and Braised Pork Belly on Deep Fried Tofu.

To contrast the spice, Chef Alan has the Sago Pudding with Coconut Milk and Palm Sugar among his dessert choices.

If you’re craving for Singaporean cuisine, you need not go to the Lion City to feast on it. Take the closer choice—and just as authentic (Chef Alan is Singaporean, after all) and delicious: Café Uno as Waterfront Insular Hotel, Davao. You can go for a second (or third or fourth) serving because the Singaporean food promotion will run from September 1 to 30.
