5.4-magnitude quake hits Sarangani

A MAGNITUDE 5.4 earthquake struck east of Sarangani in Davao Occidental around 3 p.m. Wednesday, September 18.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake's epicenter was located 136 kilometers east of Sarangani.

Intensity 1 was felt in Alabel, Sarangani, and General Santos City.

The earthquake was tectonic and had a depth of 24 kilometers, said Phivolcs.

It added that aftershocks are expected, but the quake will not cause any damage to properties. (EZN/SunStar Philippines)
