BFP: No firecracker-related fire incidents

THE Bureau of Fire Protection recorded zero firecracker-related incidents as of December 28.

"So far sa amoang record wala mi nakaresponde (or) nakadawat ug firecracker incident (So far based on our record we have not received any reports or respond to any (fire) incident due to firecrackers)," Senior Fire Officer (SFO) 2 Ramil Gillado, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Davao officer-in-charge of the intelligence and investigation section, said in a phone interview with Sunstar Davao Friday, December 28.

Gillado added compared to last New Year’s celebration, there was one case of firecracker-related fire incident in Marang Street, Barangay Wilfredo Aquino, Agdao Davao City which started at 12:15 a.m on January 1, 2018.

He said that based on the information gathered from the civilians, the firecracker used was Kwitis.

Gillado said they will continue to monitor firecracker-related fire incidents until the first week of 2019.

"We are hoping in the Bureau of Fire Protection nga respetoon lang gyud nato ang balaod ug tumanon nato ang balaod, kani man gud para sa safety sa atoang community, sa atong property, ug sa kinabuhi tao (We in the Bureau of Fire Protection are hoping that we [the people] should follow the law since it is for the safety of the community, property and the lives of people)," Gillado said.
