BREAST cancer awareness advocates urged all the women in Davao City to participate in the activities prepared for the Pink October Breast Cancer Awareness annual campaign.

Rotary Club of Downtown Davao president Josefa Josie Ortiz, during the flag ceremony last Monday, October 1, said the group will hold a Pink October Shoot, a proficiency shooting competition to raise fund to offer free mammogram to women who do not have the capacity to pay for one.

Ortiza also said that it will monitor early detection of breast cancer.

A series of activities were laid down which started with a motorcade last October 1; pre-breast screening at the Abreeza Ayala Mall, health forum with testimonies from breast cancer survivors, and the Pink Zumba Night on October 10; and the Pink October Shoot on October 21.

“We invite you all in our activities to help spread awareness on breast cancer because there is hope in surviving the disease if we learn more about it, its early detection and treatment,” Ortiz said.

More clubs are expected to join this year including the Rotary Club -Central Davao headed by Arellano Espanto Jr., Rotary Club-Davao 2000 headed by Ruby Uy, Rotary Club-West Davao led by Giovanni Torelli, Rotary Club-Waling-Waling Davao under Marilou Baarde, Rotary Club-North Davao headed by Randy Balolong, Rotary Club-Matina Davao with the leadership of Arwin Ardon, Rotary Club-East Davao under Godencio Tan Jr., and Rotary Club-Pag-asa Davao led by Mark Ryan Alquiza.
