Counterfeit cigarettes confiscated

CLOSE to P7 million worth of counterfeit cigarettes were seized by the local security forces in two simultaneous operations in Agdao, Davao City Wednesday, February 20.

During the operation, authorities confiscated 30 master cases of Fortune cigarettes; 24 master cases of Champion cigarettes; 23 master cases of More cigarettes; 36 master cases of Marlboro cigarettes; and 39 master cases of Mark cigarettes.

The operations were conducted at Door 72B, Santiago bldg., F. Bangoy St., Agdao and at Lapu-lapu St., Agdao.

Based on the report, a businessman identified as Leo Lee Sy, male, married, 42 years old, and a resident of Lapu-Lapu St., Agdao, Davao City was arrested during the operation by the Criminal Investigation and Detection led by the Group (CIDG) Davao City Field Unit (DCFU), CIDG 11, and Sta. Ana Police Station.

They simultaneously implemented the 42 search warrants issued by Retrina E. Fuentes, Presiding Judge Regional Trial Court (RTC 11), Branch 10, Davao City dated February 19. (Juliet C. Revita)
