Davao City holds first sister city fair

AS A means to strengthen its relationship with sister cities, the city government of Davao held Friday, March 15, the first Davao City Sister Cities Trade Fair at the SM Lanang Premier, Davao City.

“This is our way of helping out our sister cities; na ma-aware ang mga Dabawenyos that these are sister cities (For Dabawenyos to be aware who are our sister cities),” he added.

Ortonio said the trade fair exhibit was organized to showcase the sister cities’ products and tourist destinations.

“Unfortunately, dili tanan ang naa diri because naa silay prior activities na gina-hold nila on the same dates (Not all sister cities are here because they also have prior activities on the same dates),” Ortonio said. The exhibit will be until March 17, Sunday.

At present, Davao City has sisterhood cities agreements with Jinjang and Nanning in China; Bitung and Manado in Indonesia; Kitakyushu City in Japan; Kawaii County in Hawaii, US; and Tacoma City in Washington, USA.

Davao City is also sister cities with Angeles City, Marikina City, Municipality of Liloan in Cebu, Quezon City, San Juan City, Municipality of Basud, and Dapitan City. (RJC)
