PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte gave two awards to Davao City Police Office (DCPO) on Wednesday during the 117th Police Service Anniversary at the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City.

Davao City Police Office headed by Senior Superintendent Alexander C. Tagum personally received the award as Best City Police Office and Davao City Mobile Force Company (CMFC) headed by Superintendent Alfredo L. Miguel for Best City Mobile Force Company.

The DCPO bested other police units nationwide.

In an interview with Police Senior Inspector Ma. Teresita Gaspan, she said the DCPO is thankful for the award given to them. She said that in 2016, the CMFC was also awarded as Best City Mobile Force.

DCPO last year had not submitted an entry since the basis of the evaluation would be the previous year and it can be recalled that the city experienced bombing incident. But this year, because of the drop of the crime volume and due to their comprehensive anti-criminality campaign, they were able to bag the Best City Police Office.

She likewise attributed the award to the all-out support of the local government unit in their security initiatives.
