A BUS driver and a conductor will undergo a confirmatory test at the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) after initially testing positive for drug use.

This is the result of the drug testing of bus drivers and conductors conducted at the Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (Dcott) on Monday, November 28, 2022.

The drug testing was conducted by the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Davao led by LTO-Davao Director Neil Cañedo.

In the initial report, the two tested positive for the use of methamphetamine hydrochloride or better known as shabu, but it will be subjected to a confirmatory test.

The two, whose names are initially withheld, will be charged in violation of Republic Act (RA) 10856 or Anti-Drugged Driving Act of 2013 if they test positive again in the confirmatory test.

The agency had already notified the company where the driver and conductor worked to take action against the aforementioned.

The drug testing of public utility vehicle drivers is part of LTO-Davao's implementation of "Oplan Harabas" where it aims to ensure the security and safety of passengers against reckless drivers. JPC
