Drug suspect slain in Agdao shootout

A SUSPECTED drug pusher was killed in a shootout with authorities during a drug-bust in San Antonio in Barangay Leon Garcia, Agdao District in Davao City on Saturday evening, May 5.

Police identified the suspect as Bernie Versoza, alias Loloy, 24, a resident of Barangay Leon Garcia. Operatives of the Sta. Ana Police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said the suspect allegedly tried to fire at them but his gun jammed.

Records of Davao City Police Office (DCPO) showed that the incident happened at around 8 p.m. Saturday just after the suspect allegedly handed over drugs to a poseur at San Antonio, Barangay Leon Garcia.

The suspect was declared dead by responding Filipino-Chinese Fire Fighters Ambulance Team led by Raymond Laspiñas.

Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco) said the victim sustained two gunshot wounds, on the chest and in the left part of his body.

Allegedly recovered from the suspect was one black coin purse containing one big square plastic sachet of suspected shabu, another four elongated plastic sachets of suspected shabu, one P500 marked money and P8,200 cash.

Operatives also recovered one caliber .38 revolver loaded with four live ammunitions, one fired cartridge, one green disposable lighter with improvised needle, a disposable lighter, and other personal belongings.

The personal properties of the suspect were turned over to Barangay Kagawad Mauro Ignacio, who is the uncle of the live-in partner of the suspect.
