Maguindanao town mayor arrested in Davao City

THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (CIDG-Barmm) arrested a town mayor of Maguindanao at a hotel in Davao City on Saturday afternoon, September 10.

In an information provided by CIDG-Barmm, authorities arrested Khaddafe “Toy” Mangudadatu, incumbent Mayor of Pandag, Maguindanao at a hotel along Palma Gil Street in the city.

Mangudadatu is linked in a murder allegedly committed more than a decade ago..

Mangudadatu’s arrest stemmed from the case filed against the accused for the killing of spouses Abdulah Kanapia Ligawan and Lala S. Ligawan on October 7, 2010 at Purok 6, Barangay Sinakulay in President Quirino, Sultan Kudarat.

Mangudadatu was arrested by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Samina Sampaco Macabando-Usman, of the Regional Trial Court Branch 20 of Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat dated September 9. The arrest has "no recommended bail bond."

Following the arrest, the mayor was immediately brought to a nearby hospital due to chest pain and shortness of breath.

The arrested person is now under constructive custody of CIDG-Field Unit BAR prior return to the court of origin. (RGL)
