Man who beheaded drinking partner arrested

LOCAL authorities arrested the suspect in the decapitation of a man in Barangay Suawan, Marilog District in Davao City.

The headless body of Ernesto Ongan Dalay-ao, 45, was found in Mountainside, Barangay Suawan, Marilog District, Davao City, according to Police Senior Inspector Ma. Teresita Gaspan, Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson.

Gaspan said a police auxiliary called a police unit in the area at around 1:30 p.m. on November 15 to report about a decapitated body. A police team was immediately dispatched to verify the report.

Leonora Ahao Dalay-ao, widow of the victim, said her husband had a heated argument with Renante Ediayo Andig, 27, in the middle of their drinking session in the Dalay-ao couple’s residence. The two men were drinking coconut wine.

The suspect allegedly grabbed his bolo and hacked the victim’s neck. The victim died instantaneously while the suspect fled.

Police collared the suspect on the same day in Sitio Unapan, Barangay Suawan.

Recovered from his possession was a bolo measuring 24 inches long from tip to handle.

The suspect is detained while charges are being prepared against him.
