Mintal PUJs given Davraa special permit

ALL public utility jeepney (PUJ) operators of Mintal to Roxas Avenue and vice versa routes will get special permits for the Davao Region Athletic Association (Davraa) Meet 2019.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Davao regiona office issued on Thursday, January 24, a circular stating the issuance of special permit will allow these operators to serve passengers going to UP-Mindanao campus during the Davraa meet 2019 on January 27 to February 2.

During the ISpeak media forum at the Davao City Hall Thursday, LTFRB Transportation and Development Officer Virgilio Jibone said that the permit is free.

“Ang among gitagaan lang og permit kay kadto lang naay ruta na Mintal-Roxas which is 124 units tanan. Bisag isa o duha lang ang pasahero, obligado ang driver na musulod sa venue (We have given permits to those who operate the Mintal-Roxas route only which totaled to 124 units. The drivers are obliged to transport even just one or two passengers to the venue),” Jibone said.

He also said the authorized additional fare for Mintal Highway to UP-Mindanao campus entrance, which is 1.8 kilometers, is P2.50 for regular passengers and P2 for persons with disability (PWD), senior citizens, and students.

“Pero kung gikan lang sila og Mintal unya musakay pasulod sa venue, that is P8 minimum fare (But if they are coming from Mintal going to the venue, it’s going to be minimum fare of P8),” Jibone said.

Meanwhile, Davao City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) Chief Dionisio Abude said that they have deployed personnel starting yesterday to monitor the traffic situation as some delegates were expected to arrive this week.

He added that during Sunday's opening, 128 personnel will be deployed. A total of 204 personnel will be deployed for the duration of the sporting event.
