POLICE Regional Office Davao Region (PRO-Davao) plans to suspend the permit to carry firearms outside of residence (PTCFOR) in the region during the Ironman 70.3 event on March 26.

“We might be recommending the suspension of PTCFOR during the Ironman or a week before,” PMajor Eudisan Gultiano, PRO-Davao spokesperson, said during the AFP-PNP press conference on March 15, 2023.

She added that the agency has augmented a total of 4,000 personnel for the whole duration of the Araw ng Dabaw celebration including the Ironman event to ensure the safety and security of the participants and spectators.

“Isa ito sa pinakamalaking event (This is one of the biggest event). We will be busy giving security sa Ironman na mag-traverse from Davao City to Tagum City kaya napakahigpit na po ng ating preparasyon diyan (to Ironman event that will traverse from Davao City to Tagum City that’s why we have to strengthen the security during the event),” she said.

Ironman 70.3 will include a 1.9-kilometer swim at the Davao Gulf, a 90-km bike ride from Bajada in Davao City to Tagum City, and back again, a half-marathon 21-km run from Victoria Plaza to Azuela Cove and back. KSD
