DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio expressed her openness to run again for the mayoral post next year should the people in Davao would still prefer her to be their top local chief executive.

“If the Dabawenyos will re-elect me, I would like to continue working for Davao City as mayor. Thank you,” Duterte-Carpio said in a statement issued Sunday, September 23.

The mayor continues to gain support from the Dabawenyos during her second stint as mayor and she was grateful for it.

“I am overwhelmed by the trust and confidence. I think our fellow Filipinos are interested in the work that my administration, both now and in 2010, has done in Davao City,” the statement added.

The presidential daughter previously ended rumor that she is running for senator amid the clamor and surveys where she landed on top 5 for senatorial bets, saying she has no interest to seek a national post and prefer to serve in the city.

Duterte-Carpio is serving her second term as mayor of Davao City. She first became a mayor in 2010.
