TAGUM CITY, Davao del Norte - Davao City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio, through her Tapang at Malasakit advocacy, reminded some 2,500 barangay and SK election hopefuls in Davao del Norte to practice clean and honest elections.

Speaking before the crowd at Rodolfo Del Rosario gymnasium in Tagum City Thursday, April 26, Duterte-Carpio urged the attendees not to use violence especially against their contenders.

"Ayaw ipapatay inyong kalaban, dili man na mahurot ang kalaban ug imo nang ipapatay. Naa pa gihapoy lain na mukalaban nimo (Do not kill your opponents because they will not cease to exist even if you kill them. Another contender will still show up after that)," she said.

Duterte-Carpio said killing will not serve the purpose.

She also advised barangay official candidates not to resort to cheating.

"Walay dignity sa imong pagdaog kung kabalo ka nidaog ka sa imong pagpanikas (Your victory will have no dignity if you know you have won by cheating)," she said.

She also said that the candidates for barangay officials were also reminded of cleaning their campaign paraphernalia, especially those who will win in the elections.

She said that those who will win as barangay captain will take on the responsibility of cleaning barangay premises even if the some of the paraphernalia belonged to his/her opponent.

The gathering was attended by barangay and SK candidates from the cities of Tagum, Panabo, Island Garden City of Samal, and from eight municipalities: Carmen, Dujali, Santo Tomas, Talaingod, Kapalong, Asuncion, New Corella and San Isidro.
