AROUND 80 Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation officials and youth volunteers participated on the community emergency response team training conducted by the Davao City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (DRRMO) in preparation of disasters that may hit the city.

“Actually successful [ang training] pero may upcoming batches pa, this November 12 to 16,” Jaffar Marohomsalic, President of the SK Federation, said Thursday, October 18, through an online interview with SunStar Davao.

“Ang naka-apil sa batch one, around 80 plus ka SK personnel, including na ang mga SK officials and volunteers under those SKs (There were around 80 plus SK personnel for batch one who participated on the training, including those SK officials and volunteers),” Lyndon Ancajas, DRRMO training officer, said on Thursday, during the I-speak media forum.

Those who will graduate from the said training will be forming the Davao youth squad who will be the initial responders to conduct first aid measures during disasters.

Ancajas, meanwhile, said there are still lacking equipment for responders in some barangays.

“Sa trained personnel, halos kumpleto na ang mga barangay but kulang sa vehicle, equipment. Although [they have] the basic equipment,” he said.
