M5.6 quake hits Magsaysay, DavSur on Monday, Aug. 15

A MAGNITUDE 5.6 earthquake struck the Municipality of Magsaysay in Davao del Sur on the afternoon of August 15, 2022.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs-Dost) said the earthquake happened at 4:23 pm at an exact location of 06.84°N, 125.09°E - 011 km N 36° W of Magsaysay.

According to some netizens, the earthquake was felt in various parts of Davao Region including Davao City, and its neighboring areas like Koronadal City, Kidapawan City, and General Santos City.

In Davao City, the Kadayawan Festival opening ceremony at Magsaysay Park was temporarily halted as spectators felt the shake.

Mallgoers and staff, as well as employees from different offices, also exited their building premises when the earthquake happened.

As of writing, there were no damages reported due to the incident however, aftershocks may follow. ICM
