Editorial: Remembering the departed

Sunnexdesk

DURING the All Souls’ and All Saints’ days, we see families going to the cemeteries to visit their loved ones who had since then moved on to be with the Creator.

While many of us will flock to our homes or to the cemeteries to mostly gather and celebrate the lives of the departed, let us also not forget to spend a few moments of silence to remember and acknowledge what they have done to our lives.

Many of the departed - family members, friends, and mentors -- have left something in our hearts that we can always cherish. This can be a precious lesson that they had passed on to us or a special memory that we can never forget.

Going to the cemeteries is not enough. One meaningful activity we can do with our loved ones is sharing light hearted and precious memories of those who passed away.

It is also a good time to gather and spend quality time with your other loved ones who have returned to their respective hometowns.

Aside from visiting the cemetery or gathering with families, this is also the time for some of us to relax from the craziness of our daily life. We can use this time to reflect about life and give thanks to God for what He has done in our lives.

Let this year's All Souls’ and All Saints’ Days be not only a time of remembering the departed but also a time to spend quality time and value the lives of our loved ones.
