RIZAL Memorial Colleges (RMC) varsity scholar Arlan Arbois, Jr. captured his second title in two days after topping the Hunat Dabaw 7 Bubble Run for a Cause held in an out-and-back course from The Royal Mandaya Hotel Sunday, September 8.

Arbois, 22, a college senior, outran Agustin Ychon and Jeorge Andrade who finished second and third, respectively, in the men’s 10K race of the annual event organized by The Royal Mandaya Hotel in partnership with the GMA Kapuso Foundation.

“Nakaloy-an pud og nakaya nako nga mag-champion Saturday and Sunday (I’m thankful I emerged champion in two straight days),” he said in a Facebook interview with SunStar Davao Monday, pertaining to his 10K victory in the Digos half marathon event last Saturday.

He said he’s happy to be winning back-to-back titles despite the rigid training.

He continued, “Wala ko nangandam ana nga dula Ma’am tungod kay hapit na ang Milo marathon diri sa Davao. Dala time trial napud nako to para pang Milo (I am preparing for the Milo Marathon so those past two events were part of my time trial).”

Arbois, however, is competing in the men’s 21K of the upcoming National Milo Marathon Davao leg.

Meanwhile, Emar Human and Environmental College (Ehec) trackster Diana Mae Memoracion, who also ruled the women’s 10K in Digos half marathon, bagged the Hunat Dabaw 7 runner-up honors as she trailed behind Esterlita Organiza of Bukidnon. The latter annexed the champion’s trophy.

“Mga 200 meters or 300 meters among biya Ma’am murag gikapoy najud ko maong wala nako nigukod (I was behind 200 to 300 meters but I was already tired that’s why I did not try keeping up with her anymore),” Memoracion said.

Miki Tinol placed third.

In 5K, Frits Lantako bested Mark Ruto and Joselito Dugos for the men’s title while Clebel Guinayon raced past Claire Mae Gaban and Sharmaine Yonson for the women’s crown.

Daryl Mark Daban and Angelica Papna topped the men’s and women’s 3K, respectively.

Kapuso artists Benjamin Alves, Patricia Tumulak and Thia Thomalla also joined the run that aims to build a new bridge in Barangay Mapula, Paquibato District, Davao City. (MLSA)
