Arnis, athletics add two golds for Davao

DAVAO region's arnis and athletics team added one gold medal apiece on the second day of Palarong Pambansa 2023 competition Wednesday, August 2, 2023. Davao City's Ariane Kaye Parami and Chrisxelyn Familar joined forces with Davao del Norte's Chealsea Faith Lumapay to emerge champion in the secondary girls synchronized likha anyo double weapon team gold medal at the Marist Gymnasium in Marikina City. The team gold came on the heels of Tagum City's Vanessa Orozco double golds won in secondary girls individual likha anyo espada y daga and doble baston events. Meanwhile, Louie Jay Generi of Davao del Sur topped the elementary boys 110-meter hurdles event to account for the athletics team's second gold in the national sportsfest for elmentary and secondary student-athletes. On Tuesday, August 1, John Kervy Dianito of Davao City captured the secondary boys javelin throw gold. In volleyball, Davao's secondary girls team posted back-to-back wins by beating Ilocos, 25-12, 25-15; and Eastern Visayas, 25-18, 25-11 while Davao's boys spikers bowed to Central Luzon (23-25, 17-25).
