RIO Olympian Charly Suarez of Davao del Norte stopped Spencer Wilcox anew to emerge champion in men's 60 kilograms division of The United Boxing Classic II pitting Team Canada vs Team Philippines at The Metropolitan Entertainment Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Monday, September 16 (Philippine Time).

Suarez, who hails from Barangay Sawata, last defeated Canada champion Wilcox on September 12 in the two-bout dual meet of both countries.

"Thank you Lord for the victory that you have given me. Thank you to all who prayed and supported me," Suarez posted on his Facebook page Monday, September 16.

He took a break from national team duties and went pro with three knockout victories so far in his record.

Suarez, in a Facebook interview with SunStar Davao, said, "Yes Ma'am gikuha ko nila. Lord willing sa SEA Games (I was signed up into the national team again, to play in the SEA Games by the Lord's will)."

But he was quick to add that he won't be giving up playing pro.

Davao del Sur's Nesthy Alcayde Peteco, however, lost to her Canadian opponent who weighed 60 kgs while the former was at 57 kgs.
