DAVAO City Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO) officer-in-charge Mikey Aportadera is rooting for the city's aquatics team to deliver gold medals in the 10th BIMPNT-Eaga Friendship Games 2018 in Brunei Darussalam next month.

Aportadera, in Thursday’s Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at The Annex of SM City Davao, said he will head the delegation of 71 athletes, 12 coaches and four SDD-CMO personnel.

"Very promising ang mga swimmers natin although gagmay mga height. I'm very much optimistic of our swimmers now as they have been competing regularly. We will be putting up a good competition," Aportadera said.

He added that the swimmers as well as the rest of the city's athletes competing in the biennial Games are handled by competent coaches and trainers.

The city will also compete in athletics, karatedo, sepak takraw, taekwondo and wushu.

The city sports chief said the host country decides on the sports that will be included in the Games.

He also thanked the athletes' parents who have been very supportive of their children. "I am very much happy because the parents are always there. Their support is a big help in the development of our athletes."

The swimming team has 20 tankers and three coaches; athletics team with 16 athletes and three coaches; karatedo team with six athletes and two coaches; sepak takraw team composed of 11 athletes and two coaches, taekwondo team with seven athletes and two coaches and wushu team with nine athletes and two coaches.
