THE six-member Davao Tenpin Bowlers Association (Datba) collected a total of 13 gold medals, seven silvers and one bronze at the close of the Asia Pacific Masters Games 2018 tenpin bowling competition held in Penang, Malaysia.

Datba bowlers James Young, Crystal Chavez, Tans Bernas, Manny Nierra, Al Langkuno and Absalon 'Rommy' Serrano Jr. led the medal haul.

Philippines harvested a total of 21 gold medals, nine silvers and five bronzes.

Young won four golds while Chavez bagged three golds and a silver in their respective events.

Bernas and Nierra, meanwhile, each got two golds and one silver while Langkuno annexed one gold and one silver.

Serrano, for his part, salvaged a silver in 60 years old and above category after bowing to former Philippine Team George Manioso.

"History ito! Mahirap na maulit ito sa next 2020 Asia Pacific Masters Games sa Korea," Serrano said on the country's performance in the biennial bowlfest.

The Datba veteran said he hopes their association be recognized by the Philippine Sports Commission.

WHERE’S THE WATER? Water is sparse at the Jaclupan wellfield in Talisay City in this photo provided by the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) on Friday, April 26, 2024. Completed in 1998, MCWD’s Jaclupan facility, officially known as the Mananga Phase I Project, catches, impounds and pumps out around 30,000 cubic meters of water per day under normal circumstances. However, on Friday, MCWD spokesperson Minerva Gerodias said the facility’s daily production had plummeted to 8,000 cubic meters per day, or just about a quarter of its normal capacity, as Cebu grapples with the effects of the drought caused by the El Niño phenomenon, which is expected to persist until the end of May. The facility supplies water to consumers in Talisay City and Cebu City. /
