ALTHOUGH the Batang Pinoy 2018 National Championship stint in Baguio City was earlier cancelled by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio for safety reasons due to Typhoon Ompong, the city still has entries in chess, futsal, dancesport, tennis, and wushu.

Sports Development Division-City Mayors Office (SDD-CMO) executive program director Cindy Cruz, who flew to Baguio City with three officemates, said the athletes were all safe.

"Mostly sad sa mga nag-pursue kay katong mga na subsidized sa city daanm (Those who were subsidized earlier pushed through with their participation)," she said.

The Philippine Sports Commission and the city government of Baguio also distribute food and snacks to delegates.

Cruz added the weather is currently stable and some of the games have started while others will yet begin today.
