REIGNING International Boxing Federation (IBF) world superflyweight champion Jerwin Ancajas is the guest of honor when the Davao Region Athletic Association (Davraa) Meet 2019 unfurls at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Davao City-University of the Philippines (UP) Sports Complex.

Ancajas' guesting was posted at the Davraa Meet 2019 official website as of Sunday, January 20.

But contrary to how Senator Manny Pacquiao was lengthily introduced by a Department of Education (DepEd)-Davao official during the Davraa Meet 2018 opener at the University of Mindanao (UM) Sports Center, Ancajas, the world champion from Panabo City, will be introduced via an audio-visual presentation (AVP).

It can be recalled that Ancajas started as a mainstay of the Barangay Una Boxing Gym of Panabo Representative Antonio "Tonyboy" Floirendo Jr.

Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio will welcome some 7,000 delegates from 11 competing regional delegations while DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones will give her inspirational message.

Host Davao City Durians will try to defend the overall championship anew against Compostela Valley Gold, Davao del Norte Pioneers, Davao del Sur Cobras, Davao Occidental Slashers, Davao Oriental Sunrisers, Digos City Trekkers, Island Garden City of Samal, Mati City Eagles, Panabo City Magnates and Tagum City Tagumpay delegations.

The two-hour program will wrap up with an entertainment showcase featuring celebrity guest artists.

Davao City athletes will wrap its quartering and training on Saturday.
