BEFORE the National Private Schools Athletic Association (Prisaa) kicks off on April 22 in Bohol City, more than 100 athletes from the University of Mindanao (UM) train every day to represent the Davao region.

UM Sports Office director Joaquin Boy Sarabia, who is also the executive director of Prisaa Davao region, said athletes from individual and team events started their everyday training two weeks ago in the morning and in the afternoon as they leave for National Prisaa in Bohol on April 19.

”So projection namo top 3 sa national standing,” the director said when asked about their projection in the competition.

He added that they have a representative to all the sporting events of National Prisaa, but he thinks baseball men, sepak takraw, volleyball men, softball women and soccer are the sporting events that would contribute to give the region a better finish.

When asked if Davao region would emerge as the overall champion, Sarabia said it is hard to say so as the region never had the most number of gold medals in sports.

National Prisaa is a one week sporting event that will end on April 28. (Sean Belen, FSUU Intern)
