Panabo teams win in Araw football fest

THE Panabo Parents United (PPU) clinched two titles in the Araw ng Davao Football Festival 2019 held at Tionko field over the weekend.

PPU, coached by Fritz Galladora, edged Southshield Football Club (FC), 2-1, in the mix under-nine category then PPU doubled the feat with a similar 2-1 win over Arrigos FC to annex the mix U11 crown.

Meanwhile, the Renante Bangi-coached Rovers FC tamed the Hyenas FC, 3-1, boys U11 while Christian Ea-mentorered Crocs FC blanked Kapalong, 2-1 in boys U15.

The boys U18 title went to Emar Crocs who demolished PCT Alligator, 3-1, in the finals.

Emar Crocs coach Jessie Gravino cited the communication between members as the key to their championship victory.

Emar Crocs player Ryne Raphael Bernalez, said, “It feels great to be a champion. It is satisfying to see your efforts pay off.”

He bared that they had a hard time defeating Black Knights FC earlier.

“Most of them are qualified players are Palaro Pambansa players and they are really good.”

Bernalez added “Practice, determination, commitment and your love for the sport” are factors to their win.

A total of 58 teams from Mindanao competed in the two-day event sponsored by the city government of Davao and sanctioned by the Davao-South Regional Football Association.

Teams from Polomolok in South Cotabato, Agusan del Sur and Montevista in Compostela Valley also saw action. (Michelle S. Bairulla, Usep intern)
