Yatoy, Riola rule Rizal55 Ultramarathon 4th edition

ELGANO Yatoy, Jr. and Hedda Riola annexed titles in the recently-concluded Rizal55 Ultramarathon 4th edition that kicked off in Tagum City and ended at the People's Park in Davao City.

Yatoy of General Santos City clocked a total of five hours and two minutes to claim the men's crown over Arlilito Cabrera of the Municipality of Boston, Davao Oriental and Ruben Ramos of Striders Davao Running Club who finished second and third, respectively.

Cabrera timed 5:20.00 while Ramos registered 5:39.00 in the race organized by BBGRun Events in cooperation with the Davao Ultrarunners Club.

In the women's event, Team Amihan's Riola checked in at 6:50.00 followed by Cherry Lyn Mapula and Lea Asilom who grabbed the next two spots.

Mapula of Team Aura finished in 7:06.00 while Asilom clocked 7:23.00.

They received prizes from Amihan Gear and Ltimestudio.

Runners from Baguio City, Manila, Bukidnon, Butuan City, Cagayan de Oro City, Cabadbaran, Digos City, Bansalan, Marbel, Tagum City, Panabo City, Davao City and Lupon, Davao Oriental also competed in the race.

Organizer Roel Ambano Ano, meanwhile, said preparations shift to high gear for the staging of the Davao International Marathon (DIM) 2019 on March 10 in and out-and-back course from People's Park, Davao City.

Powered by Taiwan Excellence, the DIM 2019 will feature 42K, 21K, 10K and 5K categories.
