Blockchain phone

Late last year, HTC announced the Exodus. It’s basically a phone that has cryptocurrency and blockchain built-in. The vision? As they website says: “Rebuilding trust, one phone at a time.” The phone comes in at a time when data privacy is being talked about left and right. And in a time, as well, where a lot more people are being concerned about how their personal data is being used by companies. The sad thing about the Exodus 1 though is that it’s quite expensive.

It comes in at USD$699 if you mock purchase one from their website. One can argue that it’s actually not that expensive. My point here is that for blockchain to become more ubiquitous, HTC will need to have the Exodus 1 in more hands.

And that’s where the Exodus 1s comes in. According to an article from Engadget, the Exodus 1s could be somewhere around USD$250 to USD$300. There are no specifics yet on the technical details of the phone itself. What is known though is that the phone will act as full blockchain node. The phone "can be used to store, send and request a number of cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, Ether and Litecoin, as well as Ethereum-based ERC-20 and ERC-721 tokens.”
