Agri office hands over wing van worth P2M to Siaton

THE Southern Negros Agri-Fishery Multipurpose Cooperative (Sonamco) in the municipality of Siaton, Negros Oriental has received a brand new refrigerated wing van from the Department of Agriculture (DA).

The van worth P2 million is funded under the Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita program of DA.

Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita helps farmers bring their products to market and also benefits consumers with affordable and fresh agricultural products.

DA has been continuously conducting Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita project in various places in the country to help communities have an accessible market with safe, quality, and affordable agri-products.

The 500-member of Sonamco has an asset of more than P65 million.

The cooperative is currently in the process of complying with the documentary requirements to avail itself of DA’s cold storage facilities.

It also has a 46-hectare fishpond that produces 100 tons of shrimps per month and an average of 11 tons of bangus per month that are sold mostly to Metro Manila markets. (PIA)
