THE Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office (Noppo), through the Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) “Dungog,” has filed a criminal complaint against two suspects in the murder of Provincial Board Member Miguel Dungog.

The complaint was filed as the Provincial Government and the business sector in the province offered a P500,000 reward to anybody who can give information that will lead to the arrest of the suspects.

The Noppo reported Thursday, April 11, that a murder charge was filed at the City Prosecutor’s Office against the suspects, Richard Namoco Cuadra and Marilou Gabriel alias "Malou Gabriel."

The criminal complaint was filed after “a very cautious and wary gathering of information” by investigators and the SITG “Dungog,” the report said.

Dungog, president of the Philippine Councilors’ League (PCL) in Negros Oriental and ex-officio member of the Provincial Board, was shot dead by riding-in-tandem gunmen in the afternoon of March 25 while walking in the vicinity of the Silliman University Medical Center in Barangay Daro, Dumaguete City.

In an interview Friday afternoon, April 12, OIC provincial police director Ali Baron said the two suspects appeared to be guns-for-hire and remain at large.

The suspects were positively identified by witnesses through video footages from closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras obtained from establishments around the scene of the crime.

The motive for Dungog's killing was not immediately disclosed, as the suspects were allegedly just hired to do the job, Baron said.

Baron said the SITG “Dungog” has obtained photos of the suspects.

Investigators are also looking at the possible involvement of the two suspects in previous shooting incidents in Dumaguete. (PNA)
