5 groups join ‘Balik Patik’ competition in Kalibo

AT LEAST five groups joined the first virtual “Balik Patik” (throwback: drum beating) virtual competition held at the Magsaysay Park in Kalibo, Aklan Friday noon, January 14, 2022.

Edita Reyes, organizer, said the event was part of the Kalibo Sto. Niño Ati-atihan Festival 2022.

Each group was given 10 minutes to perform.

"Aside from the Balik Patik competition, other Ati-atihan events include Miss Kalibo Ati-atihan, jingle contest, and mosaic contest, among others," Reyes said.

Aklanon Troppoers was named champion and received P25,000 cash, while second placer was Merisi who received P15,000. The third place went to Rpa=oadside, who got P10,000.

Consolation prizes went to Aeang Aeang and Blue Birds who received P3,000 each.

Kalibo Councilor Matt Guzman said they hope to have a more improved and grandeur performance by January 2023. (SunStar Philippines)
