MOST of the 17 towns of Aklan were flooded due to strong rains brought about by Tropical Depression Agaton (Megi) on Tuesday, April 12, 2022.

Flooding were reported in Kalibo, Batan, Altavas, Ibajay and Malinao, among others, including Boracay Island.

Atavas town Mayor Denny Refol has announced the cancellation of classes in schools due to the bad weather.

The Vallacar Transit Ceres also cancelled its trips to Caticlan and vice versa because of the flooding incidents.

In Barangay Rosal, Libacao, a bridge collapsed, making it impassable to commuters.

But as flood started to subside later Tuesday, a fire incident broke out at the Kalibo Shopping Center along Oyo Torong St. in Kalibo town.

The fire affected around seven business establishments composed of medical clinics.

Terence Toriano, chief of the Kalibo Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said Tuesday, April 12, that two firefighters and a civilian were injured in the incident.

"The Bureau of Fire Protection still continuously investigates the said incident," Toriano said. (Jun N. Aguirre/SunStar Philippines)
