THE Municipal Council of Kalibo in Aklan province has urged the local government to come up with a comprehensive action against the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) crisis.

Vice Mayor Cynthia Dela Cruz said the council has filed several "call to action" resolutions to the executive department headed by Mayor Emerson Lachica.

Among the resolutions filed were Resolution 2020-338, designating the local government-owned real properties as temporary shelters for locally stranded individuals, and Resolutions 2020-344, which seeks to prioritize the establishment of fully equipped quarantine facility and related structures for future use.

Also filed was Resolution 2020-337, which urges the local government to enter into a lease of contracts with resorts, lodging houses, building of private properties within Kalibo as a quarantine area.

The three resolutions were authored by Dela Cruz.

Reports from the Provincial Health Office stated that several medical personnel from the Dr. Rafael S. Tumbukon Memorial Hospital in Kalibo were already infected with the novel coronavirus.

“The Council is worried over what is happening in the province right now especially in the municipality of Kalibo. The SB is willing to help in any way it could to combat the pandemic,” Dela Cruz said.

"The Executive and SB Council should talk and put their acts together in a master plan to prevent the spread of this Covid infection," she added.

Aklan recorded 16 Covid-19 cases, as of September 9, according to the Center for Health Development-Western Visayas. (SunStar Philippines)
