ILOILO City’s crime volume during the busy last week of January this year dropped to 21.92 percent compared to the same period last year.

Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) recorded only 57 crime incidents from January 25 to 31 this year compared to 73 crime incidents from January 26 to February 1 last year.

“If you have noticed, this was Dinagyang week. So one contributor why there was a decrease in crime incidents was police visibility especially in City Proper,” ICPO operations Chief Superintendent Jowel Saliba said.

He noted they only posted five incidents in downtown during the period of January 26 to 28 at the height of Dinagyang revelries.

In order to maintain the decrease in crime volume, ICPO director Senior Superintendent Martin Defensor Jr. has ordered to sustain police visibility especially in public areas. (PR)
