Iloilo City eyes to fully vaccinate 50% by end of September

Sunnexdesk

THE Iloilo City Government is eyeing to fully vaccinate 50 percent of its eligible population against coronavirus disease (Covid-19) by end of September to achieve herd immunity.

Close to 29 percent, or 151,949 of the 525,000 eligible population are already fully vaccinated as of September 7.

The remaining 134,029 who got their first dose of vaccine are waiting for the schedule of their second dose.

The City Hall is expecting to reach the requirement of 75 percent fully vaccinated population by December.

Mayor Jerry Treñas said he will ask the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) to consider vaccinating children 12-17 years old considering they are vulnerable to viral infection.

He will also ask the IATF for possible booster shots for healthcare workers and frontliners first because they are exposed and at high-risk of getting infected in their jobs. (PR)
