ILOILO City Police Office (ICPO) has started deploying a total of 480 policemen including 208 force multipliers March 26 to implement tighter security operations this Holy Week as part of its Oplan Summer Vacation (SumVac).

ICPO operations Chief Superintendent Jowel Saliba said maximum police visibility is needed especially in transport hubs, churches, markets, malls, parks, tourist destinations in the city.

“We’ll concentrate on areas of convergence because these are prone to robbery and pickpocket incidents. We are reminding the public to avoid bringing backpacks and wearing expensive accessories since perpetrators are expected to take advantage,” Saliba said.

There are also police assistance desks set up in strategic areas to respond to emergency situations.

Oplan SumVac is the Philippine National Police’s nationwide summer security program which lasts until the opening of classes in June. (PR)
