AFTER three years, the Motag Living Museum in Malay, Aklan will once again be open to tourists.

Maylynn Graf, former Malay councilor and founder of the living museum, said they are expecting more than 20 French tourists who will attend the reopening on July 24, 2022.

The Motag Living Museum showcases the traditional way of living of the local community. Its actors and actresses are residents of Barangay Motag, Malay.

"Once a tourist comes to visit them, they will be performing a traditional way of living as if they do not see any tourists around. They will only be consciously talking to tourists once they are conversed upon by tourists. Tourists can also experience the traditional way of living such as weaving, planting and cooking rice, among others," Graf said.

For several years, she decided to organize the living museum to complement the tourism industry in nearby Boracay Island.

"In Barangay Motag, we have no beach, we have no attractions. The only thing that we have is the people and the farm," Graf said.

The Motag Living Museum is considered one of the tourism wonders in Malay. It is also the lone living interactive museum in the Philippines. (SunStar Philippines)
