ARMED Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Chief of Staff Jose Faustino was found positive for Sars-CoV-2 in a confirmatory reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction test.

Faustino, who has gone into isolation, is fully vaccinated. He said he will remotely perform his duties as head of the military.

“Fortunately, I am fully vaccinated and in high spirits to continue performing my job, albeit in quarantine,” he said in a statement.

“I will remain in command of the AFP but will continue to follow the prescribed isolation protocol to ensure the safety of those I work with and my family,” he added.

Faustino earlier tested positive in a rapid antigen test.

The AFP said it was conducting contact tracing and testing Faustino’s close contacts as part of the Department of Health protocol. (Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo / SunStar Philippines)
