COUNTER-INTELLIGENCE operatives arrested on Wednesday, June 3, a policeman accused of using a motorcycle that was seized during an anti-illegal drugs operation in October, the Philippine National Police (PNP)-Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) said on Thursday, June 4.

Brigadier General Ronald Lee, IMEG director, identified the arrested policeman as Corporal Mark Pandi, who was assigned at the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Pasig City Police Station.

Pandi was arrested on June 3 along Evangelista Street in Santolan on board the motorcycle that was recovered during a drug operation last October 4, 2019.

Lee said Pandi also had a backrider in violation of quarantine protocols aimed at containing the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) epidemic in the country.

"There will be no respite in the crackdown against scalawags amid the enhanced community quarantine against Covid-19," he said.

"We're intensifying our monitoring of policemen involved in all forms of illegal activities and assure the public we will apprehend them as soon as we have enough evidence against them," Lee added.

Pandi was placed under the custody of PNP-IMEG while appropriate charges are being prepared against him. (SunStar Philippines)
