AUTHORITIES have launched a manhunt against a detainee who tested positive for the novel coronavirus and escaped from a quarantine facility in Manila Tuesday morning, June 2.

The suspect was one of two inmates who escaped, but one has already been captured, according to the Manila Police District (MPD).

Brigadier General Rolly Miranda, MPD director, said both escapees will be charged for putting the lives of others at risk.

Both will be brought back to the quarantine facility in Delpan, Binondo in Manila upon arrest.

The two inmates, who were detained at the Manila Police District Station 6 over charges of child abuse and illegal drugs, tested positive for the virus.

They were swabbed for nasopharyngeal specimens on May 14. (SunStar Philippines)
