Couple dead, 1 wounded in Bulacan school shooting

A SOLDIER shot dead his wife, a public school teacher, and wounded one of her students before killing himself with a gunshot to the head inside the Tambubong Elementary School in Bocaue, Bulacan on Wednesday, November 21.

A report from the Bulacan police provincial office said teacher Melody Esber, 33, was shot by her husband identified as Ruperto Datwin, 40, who was an active member of the Philippine Army.

Datwin arrived in the school at around 9 a.m. and talked to Esber. He suddenly drew a caliber 45 pistol and shot Esber, hitting her on the chest. She died instantaneously.

Datwin then shot himself in the head.

A student was hit on his arm by a stray bullet. He was brought to the Sta. Maria hospital and is now in stable condition.

Police said a folder containing their debts were found at the crime scene. (SunStar Philippines)
